The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Equipment worn by the Great One is tough.... but items from his days in the Big Apple are next to impossible to obtain. Wayne Gretzky sported this stunnning white lid during the tail-end of his career while with the Rangers of New York. Well worn Jofa model 23551, made famous by Wayne, features his twin Rangers shields at the back with two-tone “NYR” logo stickers high up on each side. Inside you will find a gold-on-black identification label reading “99 GRETZKY” along with additional strip of thin padding applied by the equipment man according to Wayne’s specs. This example is circa 1997 and is littered with nicks and scratches from on-ice battles. A rare and astonishing find from an unwavering source! From the personal collection of the former Rangers equipment man who outfitted the team during the Gretzky era, complete with his detailed letter of provenance and authenticity.
