The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Hall of Fame goalie Jacques Plante had a brief stint with the Boston Bruins at the end of the 1972-73 season that finished unpleasantly for both parties. These two original official NHL documents are Boston GM Harry Sinden’s instructions to the league of Plante’s assignment to the Boston Braves of the AHL and subsequently to San Diego. Despite posting two shutouts with the Bruins while posting a 2.00 goals-against-average and winning seven of eight games, Plante was assigned to the AHL on May 22, 1973 as per this official agreement, signed twice by Sinden, as GM of the Bruins and again in the same capacity with the Braves. A letter to the NHL central registry from Sinden dated May 30 is stapled to the agreement. The second agreement is dated June 19, 1973 and assigns Plante to San Diego, subject to a 24-hour recall. All three original documents are date stamped by the league office and initialed in red ink.
