The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Three Team Canada world championships jerseys and a pair of game used helmets from the international competition make up this lot of five collectors’ items. All three jerseys feature the red, green and yellow maple leaf logo Team Canada used at the worlds in the late-1970s, including Rick Green’s red No. 3 mesh jersey from the 1979 tournament in Moscow, Dennis Kearns’ white No. 4 knit jersey from 1978 in Prague, and a No. 10 jersey with no nameplate from 1977 that may have been used in pre-tournament competition prior to the Canada’s return to the worlds in Vienna. The two white CCM helmets have stickers for Nos. 15 and 27, respectively. The No. 15 helmet belonged to longtime Team Canada member Guy Charron, whose smudged signature is on the left side of the helmet. The 1977 jersey has its original Size 46 Athletic Knit neck tag identifying it as a100 percent nylon knit jersey. Significant pilling on the inside of both elbows and the red, green and yellow maple leaf, “Canada” on both sleeves and the numbers are heat pressed. Kearns’ 1978 jersey from Prague has a stick mark at the bottom right of the Team Canada logo. The white 100 percent nylon knit jersey has its original size 48 Athletic Knit tag. Green’s 1979 mesh jersey has elbow gussets and no collar tag, a mesh nameplate sewn-on and all the logos, letters and numbers are heat pressed. The outside left hem has been frayed away by a fantastic board burn with red color transfer. A fantastic collection of rare Team Canada items from the late-1970s, this lot comes with
Dr. Ernie Lewis’ signed LOA.
