Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
From a championship season in which the Edmonton Oilers proved they could win without Wayne Gretzky comes this Mark Messier gamer that the Edmonton captain autographed down by the blade in big flowing blue ink, adding his number “11” and “89-90”. The exact stamped date nearby is covered by fiberglass but does indeed look to finish “1989”. Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model has Mark’s thin taped grip, with more black covering the rather narrow blade. Light game use, no cracks and solid. “Mess” tallied 45 regular season goals before a playoff-leading 31 points as the Oilers won their fifth Stanley Cup in seven years.
