White Nike swift uniform worn by Dany Heatley during the Winter Games in Turin. Number “15” on the back and sleeves in size 60. Heatley found the twine twice during the opening match while wearing this shirt. Game wear includes 40-plus sticks marks and slashes. Wayne Gretzky put together a seemingly invincible team for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games held in Turin, Italy. With Brodeur in net, Pronger and Blake along the blue line and Sakic, Iginla, Thornton, Heatley, St. Louis and Nash up front, Canada looked like the team to beat…on paper. After a strong opening exhibition match against Italy and another good showing versus the Germans, the boys were shut out twice in the next three games and failed to score once more in a loss to Russia that eliminated Canada from medal contention. This set of white Nike Swift Team Canada uniforms features ground-breaking technology and was worn by members of the Canadian squad throughout three of the six games in Turin, Italy during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. The three matches included the exhibition opener, a 7-1 defeat of Italy, the devastating loss to Switzerland on February 18th and about against the Russians February 22nd, 2006. Each player wore three uniforms over the tournament: one white, one red and one black alternate. Included in the collection are game worn uniforms from each of the star-studded 22-man roster along with four additional game-issued jerseys made ready for the three alternate players and the third netminder who traveled with the team to Italy. The revolutionary white Nike Swift jerseys are constructed of at least twenty separate panels of six different materials in a dramatic departure from the traditional hockey uniform. Each sports the embroidered Team Canada crest on the front with Heritage-style maple leafs up on each shoulder. Red and black side and arm striping accents the look and two-tone tackle twill numbers sit on each sleeve and again on the back below the nameplate. Inside you will find a heavy duty fight strap and Nike Canada’s inventory bar code label with an IIHF patch sewn onto the outer tail. The goalie uniforms differ slightly with large mesh panels on the back holding the numbers. This newer white material does highlight stick marks and slashes so the majority of the jerseys in the collection do show wear from the three games. And contrary to popular belief, the jerseys are quite heavy and are comparable to more traditional Team Canada uniforms of the past. This amazing group of uniforms was purchased directly from hockey Canada. Each jersey worn in this historic 2006 Winter Olympic Games Team Canada collection comes with a letter of authenticity from Hockey Canada signed by President Bob Nicholson.
