Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
Splendid glass-bottom pewter beer mugs are mostly souvenirs presented to Winnipeg Jets goaltender Joe Daley for his participation in WHA All-Star games and date back to the first such game, held in Quebec City in January of 1973. A covered mug from the 1975 game (3rd) in Edmonton also features engraving while a nice enameled WHA logo appears on the mug from the 5th annual tilt, held in Hartford in 1977. Completing the fantastic foursome is a similar mug with an enameled Jets logo, surrounded by raised lettering which reads “WHA Avco Champions 1975-76 – Izvestia Tournament – Moscow – December, 1976.” Condition varies with the notable flaws being a cracked glass in the Quebec mug and a lid that needs to be re-attached on the Edmonton mug. Cheers to Joe Daley and the Jets!
