Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
A longtime scout with the Hartford/Carolina franchise, Claude Larose received this personal mini Prince of Wales Trophy after the Hurricanes went all the way to the Stanley Cup finals in the spring of 2002, claiming the Wales Conference title and the accompanying hardware by beating Toronto, before putting their Cup dream on hold following a five-game loss to the Red Wings. Coached by Paul Maurice, led offensively by Ron Francis and backstopped by Arturs Irbe, the Canes had a 91-point regular season prior to their great playoff run. Silver-plated memento features “NHL Champions – Carolina Hurricanes – 2001-02” engraved on a metal plaque on one side of the 2” high square wooden base, while the trophy’s name and “Claude Larose” appear on the opposite side. A cup supported by four hockey sticks has a removable lid with one of the three “leaves” broken off but still present and repairable. Otherwise in near perfect condition. A LOA signed by Claude Larose will be included with this fine piece of Hurricanes’ history.
