The Elmer Lach Auction - October 2006
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/24/2006
Almost forgotten but recalled last season when the Canadiens retired more jersey numbers, Elmer Lach was honored in December of 1975 when the #16 which he and Henri Richard donned during their Hall of Fame careers was withdrawn from circulation. During a short and simple ceremony before a Habs-Leafs game, former teammate Butch Bouchard presented this superb durene jersey to Lach, while a similar sweater was given to Richard by Toe Blake. The front page and articles with more photos from the next day’s newspaper will be included with the jersey which is tagged in the neck by the Maska company. With the Habs tri-color crest and blue and white tackle twill numbers which are sewn-on, the jersey measures out to size 44 and has been preserved in outstanding difficult-to-ask-for nicer condition. From a very proud moment in the life of Elmer Lach, the special keepsake will be accompanied by his signed LOA.
