Selected in both the NHL and WHA drafts of 1973, Lanny McDonald was chosen by Toronto 4th overall, and made his debut for the blue and white on Oct 10, 1973 vs The French Connection and Buffalo Sabres. Hailing from his personal collection, we have a late-1970s Leafs practice jersey worn by McDonald, accompanied by a team-signed stick used by Kurt Walker in 1977-78. The solid blue jersey sports Maska labeling affixed to the collar, with just “7” in white twill sewn to the front, sleeves and verso. Heavy use is exhibited, with a few marks and holes present and considerable wear to the material. The KOHO stick has “Ferguson” crossed out and “26” handwritten (the stick is actually a George Ferguson model borrowed by Walker), with black tape on the blade and white over the handle. Moderate use is shown, with 18 signing in matching blue ink including McDonald, along with Sittler, Williams and others. A signed LOA from Lanny McDonald will accompany.
The additional signers include Brian Glennie, Mike Pelyk, Dan Maloney, Jerry Butler, Jack Valiquette, Stan Weir, Jimmy Jones, George Ferguson and others. The signatures remain bold and display well.
