Originally drafted 65th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kris Letang has spent his entire National Hockey League career with the franchise that first called out his name, suiting up in nearly 1100 games over the course of 18-years as of this writing. A three-time Stanley Cup champion (2009, 2016 and 2017) who has also represented Canada internationally, winning back-to-back gold medals at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in 2006 and 2007, offered here is this collection of equipment used by Letang between the 2007-08 and 2010-11 seasons of play with the Penguins that includes the skates he wore in the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals against the Detroit Red Wings as well as two (2) pairs of gloves worn during the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.
Starting with the skates, a pair of Nike Bauer made Supreme One90 model boots that include their original Tuuk Lightspeed 2 blade holders plus blades and original laces, the bottom of the right skate has had a label affixed to it that reads "Letang - 5/8 - B.P." while both skates have had their insoles removed from them. Also having had handwritten notations penned to the bottom of each skate around the front portion of the blade holder in blue marker ink, the ink is worn/smudged in spots but appears to read "58 - 1/2 - #2 - 1-10-08/1-05-08" over both. Both showing heavy evidence of game-wear throughout their entirety, each skate shows numerous puck marks, cuts, scuffs, gashes, frays, abrasions and other things. Accompanied by an LOA from Double Deke Hockey, the skates have been photo-matched with Getty Image #81239923 (May 26th, 2008 vs Detroit - 2008 Stanley Cup Finals Game 2) to numerous puck marks on the outside of the blade holder on the left skate.
Moving on to the gloves, the first set of mitts, a navy blue pair worn when the Winter Classic style throwback jerseys were donned by the Penguins during the 2008-09 seasons, the Easton made Synergy model gloves have both had "Letang" embroidered into the cuffs over each wrist while a rubberized Easton logo patch has been added over the upper portion of each thumb. Having had Easton spelt out over each wrist in white letters, the gloves show heavy game-use throughout as reviewing of photos shows that they were worn by Letang for majority of the season if not all of it. Displaying with stick marks, red coloured paint transfers, scuffs, marks, frays, sweat staining on the interior and rubbing over both palms, the gloves have been photo-matched with Getty Image #85184415 (February 25th, 2009 vs New York) to the stick marks, wear and red paint transfers in the "T" of "Easton" over the wrist of the left glove, the long navy thread at the top of the left glove and the long loose white thread coming off the "G" in "Letang" in the cuff of the right glove.
For the second set of gloves, worn by Letang during the 2010-11 season of play, the black, vegas gold and white coloured mitts are Easton Pro model examples that have both had "Letang 58" embroidered into the cuff over each wrist. Both also having had "2010/2011 3." penned to the interior in black marker ink, Easton logo patches have been sewn on over the upper portion of both thumbs and "Easton" is spelt out in white letters across both wrists. Both showing heavy sweat staining to the insides and palms, the latter of which also display with holes and rubbing over both, the gloves also show additional wear via stick marks, coloured paint transfers, frays, marks and other abrasions. Additionally, they have been photo-matched with Getty Image #108263636 (January 20th, 2011 vs New Jersey) to the stick marks and wear in the "EAS" of "Easton" over the wrist of the right glove as well as the small hole seen at the upper portion of the thumb.
Finally, also included is a pair of Penguins laundry bags issued to and used by Letang that are either white or yellow in colour while being made of a lightweight mesh construction. Both in good condition while showing signs of having been used and washed multiple times, both have patches sewn over their fronts that shows Letang's number "58" as well as a Penguins logo.
