Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
From the 2008 Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame induction of the gold medal winning 1948 RCAF Flyers, we have the pin from the induction ceremony presented to team member Julius “Pete” Leichnitz, along with a “Leichnitz” Team Canada jersey, also associated with the ceremony. The oval-shaped pin is approx. ¾” at its longest point, and it features an embossed maple leaf and Olympic torch perched above the Olympic rings, with a pair of diamonds on each side of the torch. “Hall Of Fame Member” arches along the top, with “2008” near the bottom. Stamped “Birks 10K” on the reverse, the original box will accompany. The jersey was made by Nike, with “Leichnitz” on the nameplate along with the 1948 RCAF Flyers logo over the left breast. An LOA from the Leichnitz family will be included.
The pin remains in gorgeous condition, with no unsightly wear. The Birks box includes a second “outer” box as well. The jersey also remains in beautiful condition, perfect for display with the pin.
