Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
A product of the University of North Dakota in the NCAA who won National Championships in 1980 and 1982 and originally went undrafted, Jon Casey would be signed by his hometown Minnesota North Stars as a free agent in April of 1984 and play all but 100 of his 425 National Hockey League Games in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes". Helping the North Stars to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1991 and also spending time in the crease of Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues, offered here is this North Stars jersey worn by Casey during the 1988-89 season. Made by CCM, a Maska Air-Knit label is affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Also having had "Team Choice" added over the reverse hem in individually applied black twill letters, the measures out to roughly a size "50" for its effort. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a North Stars team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso of the garment have been accented with Casey's number "30" in layered tackle twill numerals while "Casey" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying with good game-wear throughout, puck marks are found over the front and both sleeves while red coloured post paint transfer marks are seen over both sleeves as well. Also sporting spot staining throughout and very light pilling on the interior, the right sleeve also presents with a tiny hole under the numbers. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey comes accompanied by an LOA from Brad Moore at Fairmore Sports that incorrectly lists the jersey as being a 1985-86 example.
