Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

Rookie defenseman Jim Dorey made a big impression at the outset of his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dorey’s first NHL goal puck is from Toronto’s 5-3 win at the New York Rangers on October 27, 1968, some 11 days after he set a league record for most penalty minutes in a game when he recorded 48 PIMs against the Pittsburgh Penguins in his Leafs debut at Maple Leaf Gardens. Dorey’s first goal puck has the Rangers crest on the face and a 1958-62 CCM Art Ross NHL official game puck reverse. It is mounted with two screws as a display trophy that stands 6 1/2" tall with a plaque on the front of the base. Comes with an LOA from the Dorey family.
The letter “N” within a circle is handwritten in black marker below the “H” in “Hockey” on the reverse of the puck. The plaque reads “Presented to Jim Dorey, Commemorating his first NHL goal, Sun., Oct. 27, 1968, Toronto 5, New York 3.” East York Trophies label is affixed to the bottom of the wood base, and a “Base Genuine Carrara Marble Made in Italy” is on the back of the square piece of marble mounted above it.
