Veteran defenseman Jim Dorey won the Avco Cup for the second time as a member of the 1976-77 WHA playoff champion Quebec Nordiques. Dorey, who won the inaugural Avco Cup with the 1972-73 New England Whalers, played a leadership role with the Nords as he helped Quebec win its first and only WHA title. This personal miniature of the Avco World Trophy presented to Dorey stands just under 13” high and features a silver-plated bowl atop a Lucite section containing a pewter globe of the world. “Jim Dorey, Ass. Capitaine” reads the engraved metal plaque below “The Avco World Trophy” plaque on the front of the barrel. Plaques on the other side feature the names of the Nordiques players and “Presented to the Nordiques de Quebec - World Champions - 1976-77.” Produced by Balfour with their sticker on the underside, the trophy is in very good condition with some tarnishing to the silver-plated sections throughout. Comes with an LOA from the Dorey family.
