Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Still recognized as arguably the greatest upset in sporting history despite the 40-year vintage, the US men’s Olympic hockey team shocked both the Soviets and the world at large with their epic victory over the powerhouse Russians at the 1980 Winter Olympics, forever remembered as the “Miracle on Ice”. Featuring Team USA goaltender and gold medal winner Jim Craig, we have a “Miracle” movie poster signed by the star, accompanied by a goal stick also signed, with the desirable notation of “1980 Gold” added to each. The Miracle poster is approx 27” x 40” and dry-mounted, with Craig signing in silver, with the signature displaying beautifully. The stick is a KOHO 500 model produced for Jani Hurme, with a 2002 date stamp, with Craig again signing in silver across the blade, with the bright autograph flawless. The stick exhibits light wear, while the poster shows some minor corner and edge damage. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
