A sure bet for the Hockey Hall of Fame, Jarome Iginla was in the midst of a phenomenal season when he helped lead Canada to its first men’s hockey Olympic gold medal in 52 years in 2002. Iginla had two goals and an assist in Canada’s 5-2 win over the U.S. in the gold medal final in Salt Lake City. He went on to claim the Art Ross Trophy, the first of his two Maurice Richard Trophy wins, and the Lester B. Pearson Award for his 52-goal, 96-point season with Calgary. Iginla’s 2002 Team Canada game-worn jersey is from the first of his three straight Olympic appearances for his country. IIHF patch is sewn on the right rear hem and the Nike barcode is heat-screened inside the left rear hem. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
Game wear includes a few marks on the left sleeve cuff, a few more marks on the lower right sleeve and cuff, on the upper left breast just below the shoulder, and on the left front hem. Nike size 56 tagging is in the back of the neck along with IIHF tagging, which has a “Made in Canada” flag tag at the bottom.
Iginla won the Olympic gold medal twice, including 2010 in Vancouver. He also won gold for Canada at the 1996 IIHF world junior championships, at the 1997 IIHF world championships, and at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, and played for Canada at the 2006 Olympics in Turin.
