Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
The year 2006 was Jacques Villeneuve’s last season in Formula One. He participated in only 12 of 18 races as his season ended after a heavy crash at the German Grand Prix. Still, in only a partial season he managed to finish 15th overall in the World Championship with a best finish of 6th at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Bell Racing Europe painted this RS-HP3 helmet in Jacques traditional style and tagged it 2006-06. Bell staff has also added the flags of Monaco, Great Britain and United States on to back signifying the helmet was used during those three Grand Prix weekends. The helmet has been photo-matched to all three race weekends; Monaco where Jacques started 14th and finished 14th, Great Britain where he qualified 10th and finished 8th and lastly the helmet was used in Indianapolis at the USGP were Villeneuve qualified 6th but retired after 23 laps with engine failure.
The helmet shows very nice race use inside and out with several small paint chips. The race radio has been removed, likely to be used in another helmet. The drink tube has been drilled out and the HANS clips remain intact.
The visor of the helmet is signed by Villeneuve in silver paint pen. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 06-06” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
