Joining the Mild Seven Renault F1 team for the 2004 season, Villeneuve appeared in just three races that year. In this collection, experience that era of his legendary career with treasures which include dual-signed race-used and race-issued boots which can be attributed to this season (or possibly to 2003) along with a pair of well-worn and dual-signed race-used Puma-branded gloves from 2004. The group also includes seven pieces of Nomex racing underwear, of which three are signed, that were worn by Villeneuve during races. Rounding out this fabulous lot are three signed visors. Originating from Jacques’ personal collection, a signed LOA will accompany.
Demonstrating signs of wear and featuring the hiding of logos with black ink, both the race-worn boots were signed along the side near the toe. The inside of the tongue has a notation of 10.2 in yellow on each. By contrast, the race-issued shoes bear autographs in the same spots and have the number 8 written in the tongue, but the three stripes on the sides are white.
The dual-signed race-used Puma gloves have notations on the interior of their cuffs. Both feature “JV2-04” written in red ink.
Villeneuve also signed two shirts that are part of this collection. The first is a Stand21 Racewear t-shirt which is autographed in black in on the front left near the neck. The bottom of the shirt does show plenty of evidence of use as much of the stitching has come out. There is also a Sparco racing turtleneck which was signed on the inside upper right.
The assortment of off-white Nomex racing underwear includes one long Puma-branded set which is signed by Villeneuve on the left side near the neck and has an “L” marked in ink on the tag, an Alpinestars ¾ length pair, and a pair of Sparco long underwear. All these pieces demonstrate evidence of wear and pilling.
The last pieces of Nomex racing underwear included in this group are two pairs of socks. Both pairs have intact tags.
Finally, there are three signed visors in varying styles. Each is autographed by Villeneuve on the left side. The variations come in an orange tint, or with Bolle or Swiss One logos.
