Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The year 1997 was the season of seasons for Jacques Villeneuve in Formula One. Jacques captured 10 pole positions and had 7 race wins on his way the 1997 Formula One World Championship; he still remains the only Canadian to win the title. This helmet was used during pre-season testing where Jacques and the team fine-tuned the Williams FW19 for their assault on the 1997 season.
This Bell Dominator helmet was painted by Bell S.P.O.R.T.S. Europe in Jacques’ traditional paint scheme and is tagged “T-3” on the back. As per all of Jacques’ helmets extra eye-port foam has been added and the top vents have been partially closed-off. The full race radio and the drink tube hole (taped-off) remain intact. Jacques has applied his signature to the visor adding “World Champ 97”.
It is rare that any of Jacques helmets from the 1997 Championship season are offered to the public and this helmet would make a great addition to any racing collection. Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. T3 1997” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
