J.J. Daigneault’s signed Montreal Canadiens MegaStars game-worn jersey highlights this trio of 2003 Heritage Classic items from the 1993 Stanley Cup champion defenseman’s personal collection. The NHL Vintage Hockey patch sits on the right breast of Daigneault’s signed Canadiens MegaStars jersey, which he wore during the second period of the outdoor alumni game against Wayne Gretzky’s Oilers MegaStars at Commonwealth Stadium. Guy Lafleur and Larry Robinson are among the 25 Habs MegaStars who autographed the team-signed Koho stick also included along with a framed display featuring an aerial shot of the inaugural Heritage Classic. Comes with J.J. Daigneault’s signed LOA.
Size 56 flag tag hangs in the back of the collar of Daigneault’s No. 48 Canadiens MegaStars game-worn jersey, which displays Daigneault’s bold marker signature on the top of the “4” on the back. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2003-2004 Season patch sewn inside the rear tail displays registry number B10062. According to the MeiGray population report the jersey is a “White MegaStars –Worn in 2nd half of MegaStars game 11/22/03 – Kept by Player”. Game wear shows in various marks on the front tail and both sleeve cuffs. There are a few marks grouped together on the left front tail that appear to have been made by a black marker.
Robinson placed a bold black marker autograph on the blade of the Canadiens MegaStars team-signed stick. Lafleur’s signature just above the lower band of five red stripes on the shaft is faint but legible. Kirk Muller, Chris Nilan and Daigneault have each signed twice on the stick, which is also autographed by the likes of Steve Shutt, Yvon Lambert, Guy Carbonneau, Mark Napier, Rejean Houle, Stephane Richer, Brian Skrudland, Benoit Brunet, Lucien DeBlois, Steve Penney and Gaston Gingras.
The 25” x 22 1/2" frame features a spectacular overhead photo of the outdoor rink set up at Commonwealth Stadium for the inaugural Heritage Classic on November 22, 2003 that displays to 8 1/2" x 13 1/4", with a 2” x 13 1/4" photo of the handshake line between Canadiens and Oilers alumni after the MegaStars game. “Molson Canadian Heritage Classic, Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, November 22, 2003” reads the plaque displayed within the opening in the matte between the two photos.
