Drafted by both the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Vancouver Blazers of the World Hockey Association in their respective 1973 Amateur Drafts, Ian Turnbull would go the route of the NHL and play a total of 628 games over the course of ten (10) years in the league, 580 of which were in the blue and white of the Maple Leafs. Offered here, and hailing from his lone season in the sunshine of California, is this Los Angeles Kings jersey worn by Turnbull during the 1981-82 campaign after they acquired him from Toronto. A heavy mesh construction garment made by Goodman & Sons, a size/brand/laundry tag displaying a size "X-Large" designation is sewn inside the collar with the purple and yellow cloak measuring out to roughly a size "54". Decorated over the front with a classic Kings team crest that features beautifully embroidered details, the sleeves and verso have had Turnbull's number "3" sewn to them in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Turnbull" is spelt out in single layer yellow twill letters affixed directly to the jersey across the top of the reverse. Originally part of the Michael Wexler collection, the jersey exhibits good game-use via numerous stick marks over the lower front, left shoulder and through the team crest, a pair of good sized fabric backed team repairs over the left sleeve and red coloured paint transfers plus board burns at the left hip, reverse and both sleeves. Sporting a snap style fight strap on the interior as well as pilling, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #84948363 (December 20th, 1981 vs Boston) to the angled placement of the "3" on the left sleeve. The jersey comes accompanied by a MeiGray LOA and COR.
