Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Appearing in just 311 NHL contests during the 1940s, Norman “Bud” Poile had a very successful coaching career in the WHL after his playing days, and he was the GM for the Flyers during the club’s inaugural season, helping acquire stars Bobby Clarke and Bernie Parent. We have a Toronto Maple Leafs contract for the Fort William native for the 1947-48 NHL season. A Standard Player’s Contract, a salary of $5900.00 (just over $66,000 in Today’s dollars) is listed with a number of additional bonuses for All-Star Game participation. Poile has signed in dark ink along with HOFer and Leafs president Hap Day, with the front page signed by league president and deceased HOFer Clarence Campbell (first year as NHL president!) The signatures all remain bold with no loss or fading, with just the regular expected wear including fold lines and light toning to the document itself.
