Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Fresh off a Stanley Cup winning season in 1959 along with a Second All-Star Team berth, Henri Richard would settle into the 1960-61 NHL campaign with a basic salary of $20,000 (roughly $164,239.46 in 2017 dollars) over the next two seasons, along with a bonus of $100.00 for every point over 60. We have a handwritten contract for The Pocket Rocket for 1960-61 and 1961-62, and it’s been signed by Richard along with Frank J Selke. At just under 5 ½” x 8 ½” and on Selke’s personal letterhead, the aforementioned particulars are listed, with both signature scripted in ball point and flawless, with the Selke example inverted. Originally from Henri Richard's personal collection, the document exhibits a pair of fold lines along with some very minor creasing, with “60-61/61-62” handwritten on the reverse.
