One of the earliest and most successful at making the transition from superstar player to winning coach, Toe Blake won a trio of Stanley Cup championships as a player throughout his 14 NHL seasons, and hoisted Lord Stanley’s hardware an additional 8 times from behind the Habs bench. This trophy, a unique representation of the Stanley Cup, was presented to Blake shortly after his retirement as the Canadiens head coach. At approx 19” in height and constructed of solid wood with affixed silver-plated metal bands and small mounted silver-plated bowl, each band is engraved over the front and reverse, with “Presented by His Friends To Hector Toe Blake Coach of Les Canadiens World Champions 1955-56” engraved to the top bowl. Each band is engraved with “Won by Hector Toe Blake Coach of Canadiens” along with the season, with each championship represented including 1955-56, 1956-57, 1957-58, 1958-59, 1959-60, 1964-65, and 1965-66, with the full rosters engraved on the large bottom band for 1967-68 (Blake’s last behind the bench) and 1968-69 respectively.
Displaying majestically, the one-of-a-kind keepsake sports surface wear to the wood throughout along with even tarnishing to the silver-plated bands. We should also note that each band “sits” in place as made, but is not glued or affixed to the wooden base.
