The all-time points leader for the oldest and most storied hockey franchise in existence, Guy Lafleur remains the Montreal Canadiens’ king of scoring despite the almost four-decade gap since his last Habs appearance, with The Flower sadly passing away in the spring of 2022. Suiting up in the red and white of Team Canada on a trio of occasions throughout his career, offered here is this stick used by Lafleur at the 1981 Canada Cup. A Sher-Wood P.M.P. 5030 model twig with "Lafleur G." and his number "10" stamped to the upper shaft, our consignor states that he received the stick from a Team Canada doctor after a game against the Soviet Union at the Montreal Forum. Not able to remember the date specifically, research shows that Team Canada faced off against the Soviet's on September 9th in round robin play and on September 13th during the finals. Retaining its original white tape job around the handle/knob and black wrapped around the blade, a date stamp reading "17 AOUT 1981" is found on the underside of the heel while the "P.M.P." over the top of the shaft under the handle tape has been blacked out with marker ink. Still displaying a foil accent sticker around the bottom portion of the shaft, the stick, having been signed by Lafleur with a modern black marker ink signature over the bottom of the shaft on the forehand side that displays just light fading overall, shows just light use via a black marks over the shaft and heel plus coloured marks over the shaft and light discolouration and more coloured marks over the knob/handle tape. Additionally, the blade tape sports just a couple of light marks over the backhand side and a couple of light marks plus spot staining on the forehand side.
