Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A charter member of the National Hockey League that set up shop way beforehand in 1909, the Montreal Canadiens lay claim to the most Stanley Cup championships in NHL history with a total of twenty-four (24) and have had some of the best players in the history of the game to don their famed bleu, blanc et rouge. Offered here, we present this pair of Habs game-used sticks that date from the decade of the 1980s, which includes an example from Guy Carbonneau as well as another from Gilbert Delorme. Both received by our consignor's father, who was the players parking lot attendant at the fabled Montreal Forum, the Carbonneau stick is an Artis 750 Series twig that hails from the 1985-86 season and sports "Carbonneau" graphics over the shaft. Retaining its original tape job over the handle/knob but missing its original blade tape, a good majority of the accent stickers in places around the shaft have been lost to time. Showing heavy wear throughout, including over the bottom edge of the blade from having been used for street hockey, game-wear exists through numerous marks and abrasions over the shaft, lower shaft, heel and blade. For the Delorme stick, a Titan TPM 2020 model twig with "G. Delorme" stamped to the upper shaft and his number "27" penned in green marker in the same area which has faded to time, the stick retains it original tape job around the handle/knob and blade while a date stamp reading "SEP 23 1983" is found on the underside of the lower shaft. With the accent stripping sticker over the lower shaft tattered, the stick shows heavy wear through numerous dark marks and abrasions as well as board and post paint transfers as well.
