Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

A world champion that also competed for a pair of Memorial Cups in both 1956 and 1958, Red Berenson was the first player in history to score 6 goals on the road, in a 1968 contest against Philly. We have a pair of “oldtimers” jerseys worn by the Michigan legend, most likely in the late-1970s/early-1980s. Closely matching in style and probably originating from different years, one jersey in solid red has Maska size “L” tagging, while the second solid white captain’s jersey features Rawlings labeling, with both jerseys measuring-out to roughly size 44. Both feature “Montreal” team crests, with the red jersey featuring chain-stitched lettering, with both having “Berenson” and “18” over the reverse in single twill. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
Both jerseys show nice use with marks present along with wear to the identifiers. The white example also sports a few stains over the lower front, while the red garment exhibits a slit over the upper right sleeve. The red jersey’s reverse numbers and nameplate also shows some fraying.
