Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
First leading a team from behind the bench in 1979, Red Berenson would only spend a trio of seasons as coach of the St. Louis Blues - his former club – before embarking on a lengthy NCAA stay with Michigan. The former star centerman would also coach internationally, when he guided Team Canada during the 1981 Canada Cup. Originating from his personal collection, we have Red Berenson's 1981 Canada Cup 10K gold and diamond ring. Size 12 ½ with a weight of 16 grams, a half maple leaf sits centralized, encompassed by “Coupe Canada Cup”, with four diamonds mounted along the base. The right shank has raised “19”, the left “81”, with the inner band stamped “10K” along with a hallmark. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
Moderate wear is present on the ring, with numerous scratches over the band and shanks, with dings and grooves visible along edges. There is also a small area of surface loss over the inner band near the base.
