Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

A member of the Yale baseball team that advanced to the first two NCAA-sanctioned national baseball championships in 1947 and 1948, President George H.W. Bush was a lifelong diamond fan, keeping his first baseman’s mitt from his time at Yale in the desk drawer of the Oval Office. Oiled and pliant, and ready to grasp at a moments notice to show any curious visitor or to regale in past triumphs, Bush was also a regular with Barbara at Houston Astros games, including being part of the pregame festivities before Game 5 of the 2017 World Series. Captured in 1948 while captain of the Yale baseball squad, we have a signed photo of Bush meeting the legendary Babe Ruth, with The Sultan presenting Bush with a copy of The Babe Ruth Story for Yale’s library. At 16” x 20” the modern glossy print has been signed by the 41st US President over his image in black marker, with just minimal wear to the photo including a few bends as well as a small tear along the top border. A JSA LOA will accompany, along with a COA.
Serving from January 20, 1989 to January 20, 1993, Bush passed away in 2018, he was 94.
