Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
The only NHL player to have been raised in the Northwest Territories, Geoff Sanderson spent parts of 17 seasons in the NHL. The Memorial Cup champion has also won gold twice while representing Canada in international play. This Hartford Whalers jersey was worn by Sanderson in 1995-96, his second-last season with the club. A CCM label with handwritten “8” and a size “52” fly tag remain affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the back bottom hem. Styled with an attractive Whalers team crest in tackle twill that first saw use in 1992, the navy V-neck has been embellished with large tri-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Sanderson” across the nameplate in single white twill.
There is also a rubberized “Custom Craft” logo on the inside hem near the team patch, with this garment listed as a 1995-96 “2nd Set” example. Game-wear consists of marks over the lower front and sleeves, with some paint transfer near the right elbow. There are also some fabric pulls along with a few small slits, with heavy pilling along the collar, reverse tail and along the elbow sections within the interior.
