Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

Currently incarnated as the Calgary Flames, the original franchise from Atlanta began life in 1972, playing in 8 NHL seasons which would include 5-consecutive playoff appearances. This Atlanta Flames jersey was worn by centreman Gene Carr in 1978-79. A sizing label from Russell Athletics remains partially affixed to the collar, with an intact loop-style fight strap. Styled with an attractive Flames team crest in double-twill, the white V-neck has been embellished with sleeve and verso numbers, along with “Carr” across the nameplate all in matching double-twill. Rubberized sleeve and lower striping bands have also been utilized on the desirable mesh, and there’s evidence of a longer former nameplate.
Game-wear includes a few random marks present including along the lower front, with wear to the rubberized sleeve and lower striping bands. Carr would suit up for 30 games in the 1978-79 regular season, his last in the NHL. With a short period of existence, any and all material, especially jerseys, are highly desirable from the defunct franchise.
