Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

Nice find is defenseman Garth Butcher’s rookie-era early-1980s Vancouver Canucks “V-style” game-worn jersey. The Maska logo is embroidered on the right rear tail of Butcher’s gamer, which is either from his 1982-83 rookie season or his 1983-84 sophomore campaign with the Canucks. Maska and laundry instruction tags remain in the collar and there is evidence of a former long nameplate. Game wear includes seven team repairs, a board burn with yellow paint transfer into the upper portion of the yellow and orange double-twill No. “5” on the left sleeve, and good pilling inside the rear tail below the fight strap, with more inner pilling higher on the sleeves.
There is a team repair on the lower portion of the No. “5” sewn on the back in black and orange double twill, two team repairs on the front tail, and three more sewing fixes near the right sleeve cuff, which has had some stitching let go inside.
