Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
From a year that witnessed Maine defeat Rochester for their third Calder Cup championship, we have a Mariners captain’s jersey worn by Garry Howatt during the 1983-84 AHL season. With no tagging affixed to the collar, an embroidered CCM crest has been placed over the reverse hem. In Philadelphia Flyers colours, the attractive jersey features layered tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Howatt” across the nameplate in single black twill. There is evidence of a former nameplate present, with custom-shortened sleeves utilized. Howatt saw action in 6 games in March 1984 with the New Jersey Devils before coming back to the Mariners for the remainder of the season and playoffs. A signed LOA from Garry Howatt will accompany.
The jersey shows nice use, with a number of stick marks over the lower front, with a few additional marks over the reverse and each sleeve. There is also a small team repair on the left sleeve’s piping.
