Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Well remembered as the first netminder to regularly don facial protection, Jacques Plante was instrumental in establishing head gear for goaltenders, perfecting models that would be used for years to come. This caramel colored bar mask, manufactured by Plante's Fibrosport company in Magog Quebec was the first model made by the manufacturer, with this example customized in several ways including the removal of the middle bars, added layers of foam protection on the chin and forehead (which can be easily removed if desired), and the addition of vintage Cooper straps which are intact and functional. There is also some tape residue along the bottom section, with a few minor hairline cracks to note.
