Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

Perhaps most memorable for Captain Mark Messier's decree of "We Will Win Tonight" ahead of the 6th game of Eastern Conference Finals against the New Jersey Devils, the New York Rangers' run to the Stanley Cup in 1994 saw them knock off the Vancouver Canucks in a Finals series that went the distance to bring the Blueshirts their first Stanley Cup championship since 1940, ending their 54-year drought. Helping out New York's cause with eight (8) points in twenty-three (23) games played during the playoffs, offered here is this custom leather jacket that was presented by the Rangers to star forward Esa Tikkanen. An all-leather construction offering made by noted designer Jeff Hamilton, a brand label is affixed to the inner collar along with an "XL" size designation as well. Decorated over the sleeves with a 1994 Stanley Cup Finals logo and a Jeff Hamilton insignia respectively, both in layered leather pieces, a "1994 Stanley Cup Champions" New York Rangers logo is done in similar cut and sewn leather style over the left breast while large Rangers Cup champions collage decorates the reverse and features the logos of the Eastern Conference, NHL and Rangers as well as "Rangers" spelt out over the upper portion and the image of the Stanley Cup in the middle. Remaining in excellent condition and sporting only light wear, a small black scuff is present over the right sleeve, as is a shallow cut/scratch to the leather of the left sleeve that measures roughly 3" in length. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Tikkanen will accompany the piece.
