This stunning gold and diamond creation presented to Ed Van Impe commemorates the Philadelphia Flyers' second consecutive Stanley Cup triumph in the spring of 1975. Led by the offensive prowess of Bobby Clarke, Rick MacLeish, Reggie Leach and Bill Barber, and backstopped by the outstanding Bernie Parent, the Broad Street Bullies racked up a league-high 51 wins in the 1974-75 regular season behind a line-up that boasted an astounding 1,953 penalty minutes. Rugged defenceman Van Impe chipped in 109 PIMs as Schultz, Saleski, Kelly, Dupont, et al totaled nearly 700 PIMs more than St. Louis, the next most-penalized team! The reigning Stanley Cup champions came through again at playoff time, sweeping Toronto in four straight before surviving a semi-final scare against the upstart Islanders. The Flyers got out to a 3-0 series lead against New York and then dropped the next three before winning Game 7 to advance to their second straight final. Philly beat out Buffalo in six games as Parent shut the door on the Sabres' vaunted French Connection in the 2-0 clincher at the old Aud to secure his second straight Conn Smythe Trophy. Spectacular championship bauble weighs about 39 grams and features a black Flyers logo with 25 diamonds set in the tableau, including a large one in the middle of the "P", nine each above and below, and three small diamonds each on the left and right sides. The bezel displays the full team name arched across the top and "Stanley Cup Champions" encircling the rest of the tableau along the sides and bottom. The right shank features "Campbell Conference Champions" across the top with the Clarence Campbell Bowl, Philly's 51-18-11 mark and the NHL crest below it. "Van Impe" and "1975" appear in raised gold atop the Stanley Cup on the left shank with the veteran defenceman's number "2" at the bottom. "Balfour 14K" is stamped inside the size 12 band which is engraved with Van Impe's facsimile signature. This beauty was obviously worn with great pride as evidenced by the smoothing to the lettering on the bezel and scratches and scuffs throughout, with a couple of nicks on the top edge of the left shank and upper left edge of the bezel that do not diminish this historic ring's display. A very rare offering, this scarce and superb 1974-75 Flyers Stanley Cup ring comes with Ed Van Impe's signed letter of authenticity.
