Forging out a National Hockey League career that spanned a total of 450 games spent with five different franchises, Ed Hospodar started to make a name for himself with the force of the checks he would deliver to opponents as a member of the Ottawa 67’s in the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League. Offered here, is this jersey that is attributed to have been donned by Hospodar while playing for the 67’s for whom he played for from 1976 to 1979. Void of any tagging in the neck, though likely made by Wilson, the durene red, white and black garment measures out to about a size 52. Decorated over the front with the 67’s team crest in layered tackle twill, the number “23” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer white-over-red tackle twill numerals with no nameplate found across the top of the back. Exhibiting great and heavy game-use, numerous holes and fabric runs are found throughout the piece including at the base of the tie-neck collar. Stick marks, board burns and paint transfers are seen over both sleeves with stick marks and board burns over the lower front and reverse as well. A large burn and stick mark are seen over the left shoulder with a team repair present at the left collarbone area. The crest and numbers have come unstitched in areas, the worst of which is seen to the “2” on the left sleeve. Void of a fight strap on the interior, heavy pilling is found at the elbows and cuffs with staining from sweat and equipment rubbing seen on the inside and outside of the collar. A beautiful jersey with a lot of hard miles put on it, it hails from the collection of Lorne Goldenberg with his signed LOA will accompany the piece. Additionally, a period correct 67's puck will be included.
