Ed Belfour spent five seasons in Texas at the turn of the century, winning a Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999. This lot contains the last pads, blocker and glove used by Ed Belfour as a Dallas Star along with a stick and skates used in the same period of 2001-02. The pads, glove and blocker are photo-matched to games from March 12th 2002 to April 8th, with Ed playing his last game for the Stars on April 10th 2002. With “Belfour” embroidered onto each, the Bauer pads show nice use, with a number of puck marks present on the lower sections. The Vaughn blocker and glove show plenty of use as well, with a ton of puck marks present on both. Each has “Belfour” embroidered on, along with Ed’s customary eagle graphics. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany this lot.
As mentioned, the pads, blocker and glove have been photo-matched from a number of marks present. The matches for the pads are as follows; photo-matched to March 12th 2002 (Getty 684221 - black marks on both pads) March 16th 2002 (Getty 684330 - black marks on both pads) April 2nd 2002 (Getty 53121523 - black marks on both pads) April 8th 2002 (79th game of season for Stars) (Getty 563593 - black marks to both pads). The matches for the blocker are as follows; photo-matched to March 12th 2002 (Getty 684221 - a number of black marks) March 16th (Getty 684330 - a number of black marks) April 2nd (Getty 53121523 - a number of black marks) April 8th (Getty 563593 - wear on glove gold color gone). The matches for the glove are as follows; photo-matched to March 12th 2002 (Getty 684221 - black marks on beige leather top of glove) March 16th (Getty 684221 - black marks on beige leather top of glove). The stick is made by Christian, with “Belfour” on the upper shaft in factory graphics. With the original tape on the blade and shaft, there’s also additional tape on the handle just above the paddle. With Ed’s eagle graphics on the lower paddle section, the stick just shows light use, with some wear to the taped section of blade. The skates made by Graf are Goaler Pro models, with Ed’s eagle again present, added right to the graphics of the molded boots. They show nice use, with considerable wear to the toe sections. Getty image 504023 seems to be showing the red mark on the back of the right skate, but the image is not high res enough to call it a photo-match.
