Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Traded to the San Jose Sharks in the middle of the 1996-97 season, HOFer Ed Belfour changed the base color of his mask to teal but kept the familiar look he sported with the Chicago Black Hawks on his game-worn goalie mask. Ed’s trademark eagles grace each side with his customary “Make-a-Wish Foundation” design over the chin on his Sharks beauty, custom made by Gary Warwick. Belfour signed and dated “Jan. 97” in bold blue marker inside the back edge of the mask, that displays various handwritten details. All the interior padding is present and game wear includes light chips to the back edge of the mask. Comes with its carrying bag and Ed Belfour’s signed LOA.
Warwick has signed and dated “2-1-97” inside the right back edge of the mask. His company sticker is on the left inside edge along with “Ed Belfour Pro Style” handwritten in black marker. The back head-piece has custom graphics showcasing a 1941 Willys for Ed’s racing company, named after his hometown of Carman, Manitoba. The backplate has dual-colour strapping to coincide with the placement of the custom graphics. The mask’s interior padding includes added velcro for cloth forehead accessory, which is not included. Zippered carrying bag in Sharks colors has “Custom Made for Ed Belfour San Jose Sharks” embroidered on the front below “Warwick Custom Mask by Gary Warwick” and the company phone number.
