Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

Worn during a Vezina winning era, we have this Harrison goalie mask worn by Ed Belfour circa 1992-94, and it’s been photo-matched. The interior padding is present including cloth forehead accessory, as well as all strapping. With a replacement cage, the interior has handwritten notations by the maker with “Greg Harrison 92 for Ed Belfour”. Ed’s trademark eagles grace each side, with striped back head piece containing “B1” graphics. Worn by Belfour for a portion of the 1992-93 season and most of the 1993-94 season, the bar mask is not the one showing on the photo-match photos/cards, but is a vintage example originally on the mask when first obtained from Ed. The mask has been photo-matched to a number of photos and hockey cards, with matches to the small chip at the top edge of the middle top portion of the helmet, and to the small black mark on the right ear side on the lower portion of the feather. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany this mask.
The mask exhibits good use, with marks and abrasions present including chips along edges and near screws, and crazing to the surface. There is also a large crack/chip on the lower front chin section, that runs through the mask to the reverse. Accompanied by the original Harrison storage bag, the mask is worthy of the most advanced goalie mask, Hall of Fame, or Chicago Black Hawks collection. Getty image #221406 shows Ed wearing the mask in 1992-93, while Getty images #156799438 from Jan8th 1994 and #72574315 from March 11th 1994 shows Ed again wearing the mask, this time in 1993-94. The hockey cards the mask is matched to will also be included.
