Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
From a career-high season of 104 points, we have an Edmonton Oilers alternate captain’s jersey worn by centerman Doug Weight in 1995-96, along with a signed model stick and a pair of issued gloves attributed to the Warren native. A label from RMC sits affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with the iconic oil drop team crest, the white V-neck has been accented with three-layer tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the alternate’s “A” in matching material. The Stick is a Hespeler model with “Weight” factory graphics, with Doug signing across the blade in black marker adding 2003-04. The gloves are Hespeler Classic models in solid black with white highlights, and they remain in gorgeous condition. An LOA will accompany the jersey.
The team patch on the “Set #2” garment sits on the inside hem, while the game-use includes a number of marks over the front and sleeves including a large stick mark just below the right shoulder, along with paint transfer over each sleeve. There are also 7 team repairs, with 6 over the right sleeve and a single example over the left. We should also note that the signed stick remains in wonderful condition.
