Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
The winningest Boston Bruins player of all-time with three Stanley Cup championships under his belt, Dit Clapper was a Beantown regular for two solid decades, with the Peterborough native at one time holding the NHL record for career games played. We have an attractive and seldom-seen Boston Bruins’ team jacket from the 1940s, and it originates from the six-time All-Star’s personal collection. A label from Tool Shop Sporting Goods Co – later referred to as Lippman’s – is affixed to the collar, with a gorgeous black chenille “Bruins” crest in script with yellow trim over the left breast. An embroidered crossed Canadian Red Ensign and American flags patch is situated over the upper right sleeve, with wool accent bands in Bruins’ gold, white and black over the collar, cuffs and waist band. All six fastening buttons remain intact, with this keepsake ready to be displayed and cherished.
There is expected wear present, with some very minor darkening to the white striping portions, along with a few small rust-coloured stains to the interior, just beneath the collar. There are also a few small dark marks over the upper left sleeve, with the right pocket exhibiting a small edge tear.
