The final season of his second stint in Motor City with the Red Wings, Terry Sawchuk would appear in his 10th NHL All-Star contest in 1963-64, and would earn his fourth and final Vezina Trophy the following season. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a photo featuring game-action between Detroit and Montreal during the 1963-64 season, multi-signed by four including Sawchuk. At 8” x 10”, the glossy image was produced by David Bier with his stamp on the reverse, with Sawchuk and fellow HOFer Marcel Pronovost signing in blue ballpoint, along with Andre Pronovost and Ron Ingram. The original shut-out king’s signature displays beautifully, with just the very end a bit light due to a somewhat weaker writing instrument.
The additional signatures show light areas, with most of “Marcel” of “Marcel Pronovost” heavily worn/faded. The photo itself shows light toning along with a few minor corner creases, with typed notations on the reverse including “1963-4 season” (this is correct, as Ingram was only with Detroit for that single season) and “From – Hal Atkins, Montreal Star, Feb 1964”.
