Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

Finishing the regular season in first place in the American Division and led by Marty Barry’s impressive 44 points in 47 games, the Detroit Red Wings would first face Aurel Joliat and the Montreal Canadiens in the postseason. After defeating the Habs in five, Ching Johnson and the New York Rangers would be met in the Stanley Cup final, with the Motor City squad taking home their second title in franchise history. This photo features the 1936-37 Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. At approx 7 ¾” x 13 ¾” and possibly a second-generation print produced shortly after 1936-37, the full team is pictured along with management including Jack Adams, with a pencil notation on the reverse as well as a small label. The image exhibits toning along with a few small edge creases, with the print itself slightly warped, with this easily rectified with a quality framing.
