Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

The architect of arguably the most famous goal in Stanley Cup history, Derek Sanderson famously fed superstar Bobby Orr the pass that would become “the goal”, allowing the Boston Bruins to claim their first Stanley Cup championship in almost three decades. This Stanley Cup trophy was presented to Sanderson for the Bruins' status as 1970 Stanley Cup champions. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with green felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in two rows beneath the Bruins’ executives, with “Boston Bruins” and “1969-70” engraved above. Exhibiting heavy surface oxidation throughout, there is a dent along the base of the top tier, just beneath the bowl, with a second large dent visible over the upper right section of the engraved text. We should also note additional wear to the wooden base. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Derek Sanderson will accompany this desirable Stanley Cup championship trophy.
