Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
From just the fifth season of professional hockey in Beantown, when superstars Eddie Shore, Dit Clapper and Harry Oliver roamed the newly-completed Garden's ice surface, we offer an exceedingly rare full ticket to the Bruins fourth home game of the 1928-29 NHL season, just recently encapsulated and graded PR 1 (MK) by PSA. The $1.50 promenade ticket lists the date, venue, section, row and seat, with the reverse blank. The ticket shows heavy wear including creasing, with residue on the reverse from scrapbook removal along with a handwritten "3". The Bruins were to much for the Montreal Maroons to handle on this evening, winning the match 5-1 on the strength of a pair of Frank Fredrickson goals. Recently graded, this is the only example in the PSA Population Report. NHL tickets from the 1920s and earlier are nearly impossible to find, making this specimen a true prize for collectors.
