Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
The all-time wins and shutout leader at the time of his death, Terrance Gordon Sawchuk was an eleven-time NHL All-Star, earning seven consecutive nominations. The Winnipeg native also earned “Rookie of the Year” honours in the USHL, AHL and NHL, with four Stanley Cup championships won throughout his legendary career. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a photo signed by the 1971 HOF inductee. At 8” x 10” and picturing the somewhat troubled keeper in a more jubilant mood in his Red Wings uniform, Terry has added an attractive flowing blue ballpoint signature across his image, with a personalization to Hamlyn. Joining the immortals with enshrinement posthumously in 1971, Sawchuk was just 40-years-of-age when he passed, in 1970.
As noted, the signature display beautifully with no issues, with just light to moderate wear to the photo itself which includes a few minor creases and surface indentations. There is typed biographical text over the reverse, including the source of the photo, with “Via Jack Adams – Dec 1961”.
