The NHL’s all-time leading scorer upon his retirement in 1929, Cy Denneny began his HOF career in the NHA with Toronto, and is best remembered for his numerous seasons with the Ottawa Senators. A top goal scorer throughout the first half of the 1920s, Denneny was the first and fastest player to reach 200 career goals, with Stanley Cup championship won in 1920, 1921, 1923, 1927 and 1929 (Boston). Originating from his personal collection, we offer a group of 57 photographs. Highlighted by a framed period image of Denneny in his Ottawa Senators uniform, measuring 11" x 15", there is also a large wooden plaque with his Hall of Fame portrait by Irma Council along with a gold plate reading "Hockey Hall of Fame, Replica presented to Cyril Denneny by Boston Sports Lodge, B'nai Brith, January 21, 1964". Next, there is a 3 ½” x 7” image of Cy’s brother Corb with the Toronto St Pats, a 4” x 9 ½” panoramic photo of the 1915-16 Rosedale Lacrosse club, and numerous small snapshot photos that appear to the show the Ottawa Senators during excursions in the early-1920s, with a number of images of groups of Senators including Sprague Cleghorn, Clint Benedict, King Clancy, Eddie Gerrard, Georges Boucher and Tommy Gorman – with images of each in different Ottawa Senators cardigans! Century-old period prints featuring numerous legendary stars never surface, with this collection serving as a true photographic treasure. An LOA from the Denneny family will accompany.
