Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Cujo in hockey is synonymous with perennial All-Star goalie Curtis Joseph. According to Ed Cubberly, this spectacular Cujo mask he made for Joseph was only worn by him during practices early on in 1994-95, his last season with the St. Louis Blues. Joseph never wore it during a game because he switched to Itech masks and only wore those in games during the lockout-shortened 1994-95 season. Cubberly’s “Custom Goalie Masks” stickers are affixed inside the mask on the left and “ … with pride for my friend Curtis Joseph by Ed Cubberly 10-94” is handwritten in blue marker inside on the right. “Cujo” is handwritten on the bottom of the chin protector. Fantastic paint job with a few tiny chips on the bottom edge of the chin. Comes with an letter of provenance.
