Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Rivaling the likes of Crosby and McDavid in terms of the hype set upon him, Connor Bedard was selected first overall at the 2023 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks after registering a total of 271 points in just 135 games played with the Regina Pats of the WHL. Already having suited up in the red and white colours of Team Canada on numerous occasions thus far during his career, winning gold at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championships as well as the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships, Bedard would make his senior team debut at the 2024 IIHF World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic, registering eight (8) points in ten (10) games played. Offered here, we present this stick used by Bedard during the tournament. A Sher-Wood made Rekker Legend Pro VR92 model twig that features "Bedard #98" factory graphics over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original white LiazardSkins grip over the handle and knob that is finished with a ring of white tape at the bottom as well as the white tape over the blade. Sporting a serial number sticker reading "J049W2403008" affixed to the backside of the shaft, the stick was used during Canada's May 14th, 2024 preliminary round game against Austria and was broken in the middle of the shaft 1:58 into the second (2nd) period. Broken in the middle, the stick shows additional game-wear via a number of marks and abrasions throughout the length of the shaft while the blade tape displays with puck marks over both sides and some small tears as well. Regarding the photo-match, the stick has been matched with Getty Image #2152413037 (May 14th, 2024 vs Austria - 2024 IIHF World Championships) to the puck marks and small tears to the blade tape over the forehand side.
